Reading Nook

I am thrilled that I have passed my love of reading onto my boys. I wanted to create an area that they could curl up and read their favorite books. Our home has a very open layout. You can see from the front door to the back, and the area is sectioned by a fireplace. The first area is meant to be a sitting area, and the second a living room. For the last two years we have used the first area as the boys play area.

The only reasonable place for a reading nook was that space. I moved all the boys toys into a spare room, and moved the bookcase from my office into the new reading area. A few weeks later we had a new couch and accent chair delivered.

We just need some art for the wall and perhaps a cozy rug, but we really love the new area.

  1. This is such a lovely idea – when I get my own home someday I would love to have a little reading nook for my kids (and myself!)

    1. You could create a smaller version in your home now with a smaller bookcase and a few oversized pillows or bean bags!
