Birchbox Subscription

As I mentioned in previous posts, I have been trying out different subscription boxes. I have been using FabFitFun since early summer, and I will have a review on that soon. I recently review BoxyCharm as well.

Birchbox is the cheaper of the three, and this is because you are getting samples. Not full size products. I thought I would be ok with that. Try out some products, and if I like them, buy the full size. The down side is that some of the samples are just not enough to truly test out. I received two boxes (sorry I did not photograph the first box), and I was disappointed with both. The first box had really tiny samples, and one sample – a face mask which I really wanted to try – had a tear in it and leaked all over the box. Customer service did eventually offer a replacement, but it took several emails to get a response. I have yet to receive any shipment notice for the replacement.

The second box, pictured below, was not much better. This box contained a sample for shampoo and conditioner. The sample is so small it would not have done anything for my previously long thick hair. In my opinion to really test out a shampoo and conditioner you have to try it for a few washes.

I guess for $15 I thought the samples would be a bit better. Not something that I would get in the free PINCHme sample boxes, or other similar freebie sites.

Have you tried Birchbox? What was your opinion?
